Sexy: Forfeiting Happiness

When reading “Sexy,” there was one thing that really bothered me. When Laxmi is talking about her cousin and her cheating husband, she says that her cousin is just waiting for her husband to come back. “She says it’s for the boy. She’s willing to forgive him for the boy.” This bothered me so much because it is someone forfeiting their own happiness for someone else, repeatedly. Granted it’s a mother doing it for her son, but seeing her in pain also hurts her son. No one should feel that their happiness should come second to anyone’s, not even to save a father and son’s relationship.
